  • Amplified Bible    But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD and HAUGHTY, BUT [continually] GIVES [the gift of] GRACE TO THE HUMBLE [who turn away from self-righteousness].”

  • Pride is an over-estimation of self.
  • Pride displays a lack of respect for others. Pride is an abomination before God and is a destroyer of men. (Ps101:5)

  • A feeling that you are more important or better than other people
  • Treating others as inferior.
  • Pride, is a crasher and destroyer of destiny.

One major cause of Pride is outstanding success or blessing over others Due 18:10-18

DANGER OF PRIDE

  1. Shame Pr 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
  2. Contentions Pr 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
  3. Destruction Pr 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
  4. Demotions Pr 29:23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
  5. In-ability to learn 1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings

  7. Heady in Sin (believes he knows more than others and so disregard)

How to Overcome Pride

  1. See God is the giver of every thing that makes you appear better than other, and understand that God gives you to help others and not to spite them.
  2. See life and the privileges and favour from GOD not your own doing.
  3. Genuine appreciation to God (Gratitude).
  4. See value in others not errors
  5. Prayerfulness Helps to sustain dependency on God
